    very high load

    I have a server intel pentium 4 2.4 and 512 mb ram and 512 cach

    it only holds one website but this web site consumes 70 GB traffic monthly , it is a vb forum

    today the load reached > 200 many times and it is stable on greater than 10.0 for a long time

    there are many httpd process when i typed ps aux

    Has any body got an idea on how to reduce that load without stopping the website

    And also if any body has any idea on the optimum httpd configuration for this sitiuation

    since i have a very high number of users .. 300 concurrent is it better to let keepalive off or on

    and what about the
    MinSpareServers - MaxSpareServers Configuration in httpd

    I think the best thing for you to do is if you can afford it upgrade the ram in the system. That will decrease the load hopefully.

    its most likely lack of CPU power. Static html/images take RAM, scripts like VB take CPU. If you're only serving 70gb then its most likely CPU since I've served over 1500gb on a P4 2.4ghz before

    and thanks TheHS for your advice however i can see you are using the same processor power of mine ... is there a weak intell 2.4 GHZ and a strong intell 2.4 GHZ ??


    at the same time i still want to know about
    MinSpareServers - MaxSpareServers Configuration in httpd
    if any body can tell
