resellers client spam
Hi,
What is the normal action taken on a reseller's client that has sent SPAM.
Mail the reseller and then ..
1. Suspend - till?
2. Fine
3. Terminate account?Last edited by nettigritty; 05-24-2004 at 10:07 AM.

suspend the reseller domain that sent the spam, start investigation and if spam was sent terminate the reseller domain and warn the reseller.

it depends
It should depend on the amount of spam, how long you had the customer. You should at leat warn them the first time, the second you should suspend their domain.

Contact the reseller.....DO NOT contact the resellers client directly unless you have it in your terms that you will bypass the reseller to speak to their customers.
Depending on your TOS, take the appropriate action. I would provide the reseller with the necessary information so that they can approach their client with proof of the spam. Make sure to remind your reseller of your policies on spam and the enforcement process for domains on your servers.
The rest is dependent on your policy.

Why you should suspend or terminate reseller account? Maybe you're overload reseller account...
Reseller also doing business like you and sometimes they also don't know he's customer and it's very difficult for reseller to take all responsibility on spamming issues. You as server administrator should take more close monitoring on all server and if you find any suspicious scripts or anything...just delete or remove from your server don't wait until this spammers can start their activities.

This might be in responce to my thread but I would not suspend the reseller, I would suspend the reseller's client who spamed until it is investigated. Now, if it continues (lots of the reseller clients) then the reseller is not checking out his customers very good and should be suspended also. Most datacenters will suspend a server if it has too many complaints so the same rule should apply towards the reseller.
