My uncle is in town visiting and wants me to help him find a handheld (mobile) GPS unit with a compatible PDA. The PDA he likes is the HP Ipaq 4155. I found a GPS system thats sold by HP which is compatible with this Ipaq along with several other models of Ipaqs. I wanted to get some recommendations on which pda's or gps systems are worth the money. Also, he lives in the UK - the GPS system will most likely come with CD's that only contain map info for US and Canada. So I need to get one where its easy enough for him to get the map CD for Europe either by ordering it with the system or by being able to purchase one once he gets back home. Any recommendations/thoughts/advice appreciated.
He wants to have both the PDA and the GPS. Most mobile GPS units work in conjunction with the PDA. That is, the unit receives satellite signals, etc and the maps/routes are shown on the PDA (you have to install the software on the PDA). They communicate via Bluetooth technology. There are however some GPS units that are standalone (have a monitor on them so no PDA is required). He needs a PDA as well so it will be cheaper to get a compatible GPS unit.
