    * zip or tar library, in php file?

    Does anyone know of a php library that zips or tars files thats in a php file? this library would also have to unzip or untar the files to.

    I've never tried this myself, but you could try using gzopen() and related functions for compression with zlib.

    Of course, another method would be to call an external compression program to do the work for you.

    Incidentally, a tarball isnt a compressed archive.
