    Bypassing (Site Filtered) Security

    My school is currently holding a contest,
    students who sign up are put into a competition on who can bypass their site filters the most, ie. bring up inappropiate sites that have been blocked.

    Anyone have any suggestions on how i would go about doing this?

    *this is run on macintosh computers, with mac os 9, 10 or x, i forget

    also, is there a way to disconnect it from the server but keep it connected to the internet?

    thanks in advance

    Haha, the only way I remember getting past my old school's security was because the tech left a backdoor login and a couple friends and I figured it out. The login had global access to everything on the network... One of my friends deleted all the other admin accounts and reset everyone in the school's password to pwned... of course, they found out and suspended him and 2 other of my friends for a month instead of bestowing us with prizes

    To gain an advantage, try and hack your way into an administrator account. I can't really help you with that though because I know diddly about macs, this was all on Windoze for me.

    The school administrators just foudn out today that everyone could access their passwords, and so they shut down the server and I believe are fixing the problem, and most obviously are gonna change the passwords, so i dont know if thatr's gonna work

    Try putting the site through something like the Google Translator; used to work for me!

    if this is on os x, just get a proxy off of fink, put one up outside the school lan, set safari to use it and pull up ********** - you are done at this point.

    If you go to either of these sites theres an address box somewhere on the screen where you can type in any address and it will bypass any school firewall/filter.

    P.S. These sites are all Japanese

    Why do I not believe that they are holding a "contest" and you are looking for a way to get around it. If it is bess, most online proxies are already blocked and so are the translators... Google images is blocked, because of the images (porn and whatnot)

    Wouldnt you guys like to know how to get around it... I know how and i never had a problem with bess all the time i was in school. Now I work there, and have the password.

    Just write your own script.
    Which would replace all the text on a site to "different corresponding symbols" like.. a = @
    h = #
    B = 8
    etc.

    Then upload that to a server somewhere and use that to load the pages.

    This way, the filter wouldnt pick up any bad words.
    Also, it wouldnt pick up the bad url, since the url will be yours.

    Find out for sure what operating system you are using.

    OS X is a completely different operating system to OS 9 (which still had legacy code from 1984 in it) - a complete rewrite

    Easy lol.

    Assuming they allow *some* level of activex installation open, you can install Terminal Service on your home computer and using a site like http://ts.bink.nu connect to your home computer. Then from your school PC access your home computer.

    What you access on your home computer(displayed on your school monitor) is beyond the idiotic filters that our schools have...talking from experience(in no intentional way or manner lol)

    Someone mentioned the use of proxies. I strongly doubt that would work.

    Two reasons:

    a) All of the school I've attended in the US over the years disallow the proxy options in Internet Explorer.

    Now, you think you can bypass that in the registry or with a plugin application...in most cases no because the schools block those outgoing proxy ports.

    b) What does a proxy do? Simply fetches the content from a given URL and gives it back to the school. Proxies are good if you want to visit Site B and prevent Site B from knowing that you visited it. However, the output returned with the use of a proxy is exactly the same to the school filter as it would be if you did not use a proxy.

    Naa, a vast majority of those pull up proxy-related solutions. What he needs is something which will ENCRYPT the incoming data or send the incoming data in a non-standard manner. 99% of these so-called "anonymous-surfing" solutions protect you from the websites that you visit, not same as your ISP or the local filters your organization may have.

    Mac OS (Classic and X) don't use ActiveX, so no activex vulnerability exploits for you
