    round robin dns

    how to activate round robin on a dns server?

    is it simply done with the following config in the zone file?

    .
    .
    .
    www IN A 1.2.3.4
    www IN A 1.2.3.5
    www IN A 1.2.3.6
    .
    .
    .

    A good TTL (time to live) for round-robin is typically between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. I like 2 minutes myself.

    2 minutes is good Round-robin TTLs (time-to-live) are set low so that they're not cached in name servers for too long, in the case of an outage like others have said.
