Is cari.net any good?

I just rented a dedicated server from cari.net and since the server came up at around 3:00 today there have been two outages there lasting over an hour.

Not a good first impression! What gives? Are they any good? Did I just start on a bad day?

walk

I think an hour long outage should go more reason than you need to walk.

Usually you ask this kind of question before you sign up with your host.

Maybe ask for a new machine if your server keeps locking up. And if the outages persist, then its time to move on.

Yes, they are good. In terms of support. I still have not found better 24/7 support. I pained me to leave for a better DC with a better network. The support we have now doesn't compare.

Open a ticket, and within a few minutes someone will start on it.

Hey there,

A few years ago we used to host our own equipment in Cari.net's walk-in datacenter in San Diego, Calif. (at the time it was called SDColo). It's one big building -- you get keys to one part and their stuff is secured in another.

They had a good NOC setup. Projector with support issues filling up the front wall 24/7, etc. We had a 24/7 800# and they always answered it.

We got to know the late-shift staff really well. Their techs were always helpful, and a few times they went _well_ out of their way to save us the drive from Orange County (an hour or so north along the coast, between LA + San Diego).

Eventually we outgrew renting a full rack with all our own hardware, for as cheap as you can rent good Dual Xeon boxes w/ RAIDs these days. But we had a good experience.

While I can't vouch for their dedicated servers or leased pricing, it was all on the same network with the same staff. And I can definitely vouch for the company.

Thanks!
