Well, I've decided that I dislike Six Apart/Movable Type quite a bit now. Here is the story:
I had a system created so that I could host movable type for users for free, no access to files, one installation of movable type, one author, one blog, basically, it created the blog, folders, username, and such. Before I PAID to have this done, I contacted six apart about the licensing issues. Well they said it would be perfectly fine in 3.0 with about a $150 license, for as many users as I would like. Well, when 3.0 rolls around, I email Six Apart, and they say, sorry, we cannot allow this as it would pull business away from the hosting companies that we are partnering with unless you want to buy a filthy stinken expensive corporate license for each user. This is after I spent quite abit of money getting this system to work, and after they said that it would be fine when 3.0 rolls around. What A Crock! So, basically, now I'm stuck with someting I have no use for, and I wasted a fair amount of money on.
Today, I came accross pLog (www.plogworld.org) which does nearly everything that movable type does, but for free, and best of all its written in php and its open source!!! I'm quite amazed by this product, considering it is nearly written by one person, and it is quite amazing for being free. I have used almost every feature this has to make sure it works properly, and I have to say it does.
I just wanted to tell everyone about a great software that I've found, and will use it in my free blog hosting that is soon to come.
