I am currently speaking with a travel cruise agency in helping them get a Website up and running for them. They where looking at a few sites and rolled across a site called www.revelex.com
However from what i've gathered from the site it will cost them 15,000 for it plus $600 at least for them to modify it in any sort or form. Now since i am a web designer/programmer and am familiar with ASP i would like to present them with an option from myself. However i am unsure of where i would pull the data for the cruise information such as Cruise Companies, docks they are leaving and arriving, dates and times, etc. Does anyone know where i can get such information? Like a database or where i could get data i might be able to import data from. Any help would be very appreciated.
I've done php work for a local travel agency designing them a nice web frontend.. and some of the bigger cruise companies use soap for its webservice. Its mainly a standard way of transfering XML requests.
If the travel agency is hooked up to the large travel agency networks such as Sabre, etc. you should look integrating your application with those such systems. It will allow you to book and manage trips.
I've done this for travel agencies in the past and pretty much this is where you'll get your bread and butter data from.
