[server admin] HELP!
I have a server at servermatrix and currently, the red lights are on!!!
Server Load 3.83 (2 cpus)
Memory Used 91.5 %
Anyways, i did "top" in ssh, however, it is not showing any cpu intensive processes.
I rebooted the server (support ticket at server matrix) twice, however that did not fix the problem.
Thank you for any advice you can give.

Wouldn't servermatrix be the place to go for emergency help? Or any support?

I wouldn't be so concerned about the load although clearly we want it to be much lower it's the RAM I'd be worried about?
Only time we get RAM usage anywhere near that is when we're doing backups compressing a lot of information down...

Hmm,
Seems like a PHP Script is currently running. Do you have any cron setuped to do automated billing for example? (Modernbill)
Maybe someone is running a Paid to surf website and it is making the php load go up...
As anon recommended go and ask ServerMatrix they offer Free Platinium Management plan, right?^_^

But that php script is under 'cpanel' ownership, so I doubt if its any separate third party software other than those which comes along with cpanel. You can try to kill it and if it doesnt work, in top -c, press 'shift+M' to list the result in the order of memory usage. Paste the result here. Perhaps that will help.

At this time your remedy is only one – reboot. And most likely by power recycling, simple reboot from the command line may not work. The process is "uninterruptible sleep" and cannot be awakened by "kill". There are some way to debug it in this state, for instance to find state of its parent and so on. The process uses huge memory of course.
You need to get some good help.

Ok,
SOME how, the problem is fixed and no more High CPU.
I believe it was a restart of server and restarting of httpd and mysqld.

I agree with peter. It is better to assign it to an admin who can monitor the logs, processes, network status etc to find out what exactly is going on. It is hard to solve these issues just on a set of assumptions or process snapshots.
