    yikes, BIG stats problem!

    hi,

i normally only use my awstats but today i was getting ready to sell a site and so i was going to screenshot my webalyzer stats

i have NO idea what is up with that BUT webalyzer says i had 9 uniques daily average for the past several months (which i KNOW is wrong) and awstats shows what is more accurate which is about 500 uniques daily.

we know the 500 uniques daily is more accurate because of the membership and transfer of the site.

what could be going wrong with webalyzer?

    very strange

    example-

    awstats

Hard to know what the problem is really all I know is that the stats packages always disagree.

Analog is the worst I've found, it always gives sky high figures for everything

Have you updated it? Some times webalizer doesnt ever update itself.

    Thank you,

    neither

neither one of the stat interfaces will give you a perfectly accurate measurement of traffic and such. Neither will show the same results either since they are work a bit differently.

well im sure we can all agree the difference between 8 a day and 500 a day is a bit much.

I've found webalizer to be inaccurate as well. It often inflates the amount that I have though, I haven't had it do the opposite to my knowledge.

As mentioned before, each program is inaccurate in certain areas because they all measure different things. I personally tend to stick with Awstats because it seems to me just a little more accurate. My only suggestion would be to make sure that things are upgraded and rotate the logs perhaps.

wow, i had no idea they sucked so bad!

thought maybe it was just me!

each visitor submits information to our database and we get hundreds daily so when it tells me 7 or 8 a day, well i just know thats wrong!
