Question Critic asks :: WHTers Research ~ What is ur BMI/Body Mass Index? Do you know it?

Why bring it up? Well i calculated mine today to help me prove a point with someone. It was 19.8 which isn't too shabby as things go.

    Now you've got all these diet fads doing the rounds in some countries and there are the campaigns about obesety in the young ever increasing. What do you think of all that, personally i'm not convinced nor am i inclined to use any of the Atkins or South Beach things anyt ime soon but i could be wrong. ;

We have a fairly global community here at WHT and quite a large age range to match so how right are all these people and how does it reflect here. What do you think of your results if you choose to participate in this little survey and anything else you choose to add about the topic really?

My result was 19.8, how do you fair??

Lucky you. I'm a 29.4 but used to be a 33.6 so I guess you can say I'm better off than before. I don't believe in any of those fad diets like Atkins or Southbeach. The only real dieting is healthy dieting complemented with exercise.

That's my thinking too Q_Max, all this low carb stuff, wine too now or it will be on the shelves soon; you can enjoy the foods and drinks you like wihtout watching for Atkins/South Beach's rules or whatever as long as it is all in "moderation" as they say.

2-3 Main meals a day is a key thing for me and the amount of snacks that people eat in relation to that.

Currently I'm 24.5. I'm actually in the middle of a workout routine I've started to loose some weight.

I started at 180lbs and my goal is to loose 15 pounds to get to 165lbs.

I don't do the whole "diet" thing persay but I have adjusted what I eat.

I had been around 200lbs at my peak but I cut out sodas last year and got down to 180 but I've been stuck there since then.

So, I figure with increased exercise and cutting excess fats, sugars and carbs It should be a snap to dump another 15 pounds.

Acually it can give some very misleading results as all it is based on is your weight and height.

It would give a boxer for example the clasification of 'obese' yet they might have a very low percentage body fat.

Someone who works out or has toned muscles may have a higher BMI than someone who is simply overweight because muscle is heavier than fat.

very good point - I just did mine - lol - it says I am 29.4 basically obese - hehehe

what they dont know is that I am 5'10 205 and only have 12% bf which is probably less than most out there- and I am in excellent shape. I hve more lean muscle than most - so it hoses the whole bmi thing.

its not all about losing weight. its about having the right percentages.

yes i workout and watch my diet.

you dont want to dump them - what you want to do is stay where you are and convert the fat weight to lean muscle weight.
