Thanks for replying, I'm starting to wonder if it's really worth it. All the potential hassels that could arise. All I want to do is provide the option for customers who purchase my hosting plans to also order a domain name. I don't want a reseller site as a main gig, just to offer an optional service.
It also something that would not be there to make me much of a profit. I'm wondering if it's worth the time and money.
If you just started and you don't want to deposite so much money you can get an enom 8.95 account for free ( please search the ad forum ) also there is a memebr here who will offer you a free 8.95 account + some funds in it so your total cost for a domain will be about 8.50 ( I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention his name )
Aslo you can get 6.99 DirectI account for free from the ad furom
or you can get 6.75 DriectI account from whoiscart.net when you buy thier script for $35.00
If you are not sure if it worth or not Don't deposite so much money at the beginning and just try your luck

I like the php cart idea. I think its a worthwhile service to provide my hosting clients the ability to purchase a domain and hosting in one place. I think Ive just overread some of the negative issues that are happening with domains at the moment.
I think the php cart might be the way to go. Do you know that if I do go the php cart way, whether then I still have to deposit an initial $75US?
It's not worth it if you're trying to make a profit. There's many easier ways to make a buck (Literally!). If you look at it as a convieniance to your customers though, and as a necessity to improve the rest of your business, it's worth the extra hassle to set it up. (After setup and initial investment, it pretty much runs itself).
