Personally I've gotten a broken pipe for the past 4 weeks while trying to backup a 4 GB file. Smaller files have worked though. Guess I was put on a bad server, I probably should make a trouble ticket or something

Originally posted by kingfred It's wonderful. Once you got it setup, I set CPanel to backup my server every few nights, and lately I have forgotten that I am even backing up my server, it's so reliable.
I've gone ahead and gotten an account with them (can't beat the price) and am curious to see how it works out.

4gb is the limit on filesize in linux, unless you compile all of the code involved with O_LARGEFILE, _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 and _LARGEFILE64_SOURCE at the minimum. certain calls, like *rlimit64 are not fully functional either, ie large values are accepted but wrapped to RLIMIT_INFINITY. i imagine that fbsd is at the same point, if not worse off (it always trails linux in scalability on large hardware).
in short, your problems are expected and the correct solution is to reduce the size of each file being uploaded using spanning, fo example. a crude script to do that with head and tail or some tar magic should help you. man is your friend.

FWIW.... here is a quick one day review. I registered for the account and within about a minute, I received a verification e-mail asking for my D/L and front and back of my CC. I faxed it over immediately and received another response about 5 minutes later advising my account would be setup shortly. I received the logon and server info about 4 hours later and was ready to go.
I ran some manual testing last night and then set CPanel to backup one of my Servermatrix servers to the offsite backup. Moved 4.8gb of data at 16/mbps steady. Very awesome speeds.
So a one day review is useless, but so far, everything has been great. I'll provide another review in a few months.
