First, I apologize if I ask something stupid, if so, please refrain from grilling me.
I have a couple of questions.
I have pretty much found everything I need, after hiding and reading on these boards, I thank everyone for the information.
Because I am starting off, fresh, no clients, ect. What would be the best Disk space/data tranfer rates should I be looking for. I want enough for growth, but I am in no means one who wants to waste money.
What advertisement sites would you recommend, your top one would be nice.
Thanks all for your responses, I really appreciate it.
Start off on a small plan, and upgrade as you need more space / bandwidth. I think most hosts will allover overselling on bandwidth only, not diskspace, so this will help you.
I think a sensible starting point would be 1 gig diskspace, and however much bandwidth comes with that space. In most cases, you'll find that diskspace is used up before bandwidth, because of the overselling option I mentioned before.
To get some quotes in, use the Host Quote option at the top of this page.
Actually, where you start completely depends on your financial plan and how serious you are about this hosting company.
If it’s just something you’re doing on the side as an added source of revenue, then yes, consider something very small and expand if necessary. Generally, a 1 GB reseller account is great if you plan of offering very small hosting accounts to clients.
WHT is a great place to advertise, as are many hosting / design communities around the web.
It's really up to you - so long as you make sure your host can upgrade your plan without any problems, I'd save your money when you start, or spend it wisely on advertising.
This will give you the opportunity to spend some time setting up your plans, and familiarising yourself with the control panel, and integrating / setting up your sales website if you havent already done so.
It sounds like you very much want to do things properly, which is great, but that doesnt mean you have to buy more than you need to start with - that's the beauty of reseller accounts over dedicated servers
A smart move would be to start with a small package that does not drain your financial resources. Have options for upgrading in place - before you start. Either upgrade the reseller account when needed at the host you will go with or just get a second reseller account at a different host or even get your own server if your business is doing good. Paying too much for resources that you don't need is financial stupidity.
That depends on your target customers. If you’re planning to offer small accounts of 50 – 100 MB and what not, 1 GB of space could be *plenty* to start off. However, if you want to offer accounts with 1 GB, 2 GB of space, obviously you’ll be needing a larger reseller account.
Now, remember there are also various forms of reseller programs. Some reseller programs enable you to sell prefabricated hosting packages which is really more like a referral program in which you pay x.xx for the packages, and then charge your customers whatever you want in order to earn a profit.
You might want to look into both forms of reselling.
