what isnt evident in the photo is that the weather center was saying to get in the basement now. and all the tornado sirens were going off!

When I lived in Kansas it was pretty much the same, people outside watching the storm.
When I lived in South Carolina I knew people who would go to the beach to watch a hurricane.
Some people just aren't right.

Having lived in the midwest all my life I have gotten used to tornados.
The bad part is there is virtually no notice when they hit. They appear suddenly and disappear just as quick then re-forming a few miles away.
There's not much you can do other than find shelter.

One time the tornado sirens went off here. Never ran so quick to the basement in my life. Of course the tornado never materialized though. All that running for nothing.
I'm such a pansy.

I've only seen tornadoes once in my life, guess where: Minneapolis, MN That was in July of 1995 and they were far in the distance, but still very large and very distinct - two dark cones that you would not want to get closer to.

I've managed to see several tornadoes where I live...
One day, I will have a loaded camera, and I'll shoot one of them. I'm just crazy enough to stand and film.
PS: This damn 90 second rule has hit me twice so far in the last 3 posts... ARGHHHHDon't like what I say? Ignore me.

We used to see quite a few of them out in Kansas and you could stand outside and watch until they were within a mile or so, then they were too close to be predictable.
Now I live in Kentucky and around here you really don't get much of a chance to watch them because of all the hills and trees. One can be upon you before you know it.

Tornados aren't all too bad considering I live in Texas. I'm not scared of them because of what native americans said. They say the something like the roaring winds will not cross between the 2 rivers and hill which is where my city is located. I hear the sirens go off sometimes, but a tornado has never hit here. It could change because the eviroment is always changing, but when I hear these sirens they do not bother me. I'll usually stay on the computer and type.
