    new hosting site, needs prices

    hello,

im putting up a new shared hosting site and trying to get some GOOD ideas of some plan pricing.

care to throw in some ideas?

this is just shared hosting with all the standard stuff including cpanel, fantastico deluxe, etc. no unlmited stuff except for mysql.

my plans would start at 100 MB/1gig and go up 4 levels from there.

    thanks in advance!

    Hi Lauren,

Boy is that a loaded question

Youve been around here long enough - and judging by your posts Ive read, are knowledgable enough to know this question cant really be answered with the information given....

Who is your target audience - are you going to compete on price or do you have a specific value add youre trying to sell...

If you play the price game, can you make money - are you planning on overselling?

Anyway - just throwing some things out there.....

ps - my personal opinion - dont be the cheapest, or even close to it - provide an excellent service and charge appropriately for it...

    Level 1:
    Transfer: 1 GB
    Disk Space: 100 MB
    Email: 10
    mySQL Databases: 2
    Sub Domains: 5
    Add-on Domains: 0
    PPM (Price Per Month): $3.95

    Level 2:
    Transfer: 3 GB
    Disk Space: 300 MB
    Email: 25
    mySQL Databases: 5
    Sub Domains: 10
    Add-on Domains: 2
    PPM: $6.95

    Level 3:
    Transfer: 5 GB
    Disk Space: 500 MB
    Email: 40
    mySQL Databases: 8
    Sub Domains: 15
    Add-on Domains: 4
    PPM: $8.95

    Level 4:
    Transfer: 10 GB
    Disk Space: 800 MB
    Email: 50
    mySQL Databases: 8
    Sub Domains: 25
    Add-on Domains: 5
    PPM: $14.95

That's just something I came up with. Made the pricing and plan specs. so that each plan up is a better value than the previous one.

oh im not cheap at all.

servers are far from crowded, never will be, i have lots of room to grow.

    using the dinix dc.

all clients have cell phone support along with aim, etc

not looking for high space/bw packages. none of my users use half of what they have.

    thanks!

Yes - If the service has been there..

Mind me asking if you are happy with the service? Uptime, customer service, etc...

I totally agree, Gargoyle. Getting into price wars is bs in my opinion. I'd rather have one client paying $12.95 per month, instead of three clients paying $3.95/month.

thanks guys for your help, it is never easy trying to figure out prices, but here is what i have decided on...

    Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Level 5
    50 MB 100 MB 250 MB 500 MB 1000 MB
    1 gig 3 gig 5 gig 7 gig 10 gig
    $11.99 $18.99 $29.99 $34.99 $49.99

do you think there is too much price difference vs space for the level 4 to level 5?

now let me ask you this....

isnt a gig technically 1024 mb? because i know most are selling gigs but giving only 1000 mb. what should i do on this one?

(as you guys know, i do not advertise here nor do i get clients from here so this post should not be construed as such. i dont even give out my URL here)
