    don't put anything important on non-intel/amd mobo

    amd (64,mp,esp opteron omg) processors are really neat. Just make sure you don't get a funky chipset on ur mobo ur trying to serve off of. Via, sis... they make crap. For me, the reason to go intel is so you can run an intel chipset. If you can afford to run an amd chipset, there's no reason not to run the AMD... that's just mho.

    You could also cook your breakfast on top of a 1U case if you have one of them running inside

    There were recently numerous threads posted in the Dedicated forum about the differences between Athlon and Pentium. You should be able to spot a few threads on the first few pages containing lots of debating about this very issue.
