Opening UK Current Account with Minor.

Basically, I want to know if it's possible for a parent to open a JOINT current account with a minor, with BRITISH banks (I know you can in America thanks, lol.)
I'd be specially interested to hear what people who work for the major UK banks (NatWest, HSBC, Barclays or Lloyds TSB) have to say.

    Thanks!

If you want a bank account why not just get a youth account?

Because Youth Accounts only offer options such as "Solo" or "Visa Electron", both of which are fairly poor.
Whilst if you got a joint account at Barclays, you could have a proper Visa debit card, instead of just Visa Electron which is accepted hardly anywhere.
Is that joint NatWest account you said available jointly with under 18s?

There is nothing wrong with a Solo card, you can use it pratically any where now-a-days on the internet (worldpay, paypal).
