Hi,
If I wanted to set up a hosting web site to offer small hosting packages to gaming clans (probably a small number of as well to start with), would I need to register this as a company (as per subject I am in the UK)?

This may seem like a stupid question as it is obviously a buisness, but if it was a small income (and technically non-profit as most of the income would go into game servers) could I not simply declare it on my tax return?

I know this may not be the most appropriate forums to ask this in, but I dont know of any where else to ask!

There's no need to register as a company at Companies House and from reading your post, I would recommend against it as it will be extra paperwork and costs which you could probably do without.

You will need to register at the Inland Revenue as self employed though (if not one already). This will mean that you fill out a personal tax return every year to inform them of your tax due.
