Well, I'm at wits end. I want a server equivalent to what I have at ThePlanet now (Dual Xeon 2.8, 2GB ram (got 1GB free with WHT special), dual 80GB HDDs, 2TB/mo bandwidth, redhat enterprise, cpanel)... but I want bigger hard disks (160-250GB each).
I've spent time on the phone with several reps @ theplanet today and they all say there are no hard disk options available except to order a enterprise level server with 3 hard disks (which would cost $699/mo+).
I really like theplanets support, and my current dual xeon there along with my 2 boxes at servermatrix run like dreams and their support is awesome. I'd rather not move, but as they don't seem able to grow with me it looks like I'll have to.
Is there anywhere that can offer support similar to theplanet, remote reboot, etc? My current dual xeon package costs $274/mo (paid $49 setup fee)... I don't believe I should have to pay $699/mo to get more space
Any suggestions anyone?
Edit: If anyone from SM/ThePlanet read this, if you'll change your policies you have a automatic sale....
It looks like their current Total Control are now Dell servers so I guess the configuration are what they get from Dell. For Servermatrix servers, those are whiteboxes which they custom build in their facilities and could probably customized their hardware.
How hard is it to switch over a IDE hard disk... but if the servers come under a support contract with dell then they probably would be stuck... still, seems silly to not have any upgrade options for the hard disks
