Well, my whole internet has went out on main PC. Tried to reset router to default, tried to enable/disable, repair connection but was told "Cannot flush ARP cache; renewing the IP address". Windows XP is the OS. Second PC (this one) is connected wireless through router. This one works, but it's like main PC does not even sense the router, since going to router page doesnt work. Did loopback ping, worked fine, did IP ping, worked fine, but when i attempted to do another ping, the default gateway, it didn't work... Any help is welcomed.
Also, i tried to connect the CPU to the cable modem itself to no luck too. Instant "cannot find page" that way.
Could it be your ISP? Try to renew your IP just through the cable modem (did you already try this?) and leave the router unplugged for a few minutes. Then plug it back up the right way and renew your IP again.
sometime worms, viruses or crap like that can kill the router link...
got any security software?
when you manually reset the router, all the settings go back to default and you basically need to configure it again... if you can not get the router home page by typing the address provided in your browser's address bar then you have some crap on your computer preventing you from doing so... you must get some security software and clean up your machine....
there are many things that could happen, like a worm could override your gateway settings, or it could simply block all your connections, funny though is that ping is working... and as you say it's not the router, cause the other comp is working wirelessly... funky business...
Try reconnecting it and ping to your router or another computer connected to the router. If that works, then its possible your router isn't configured correctly to connect to your modem. If that doesn't work, call the tech support for your router and find out how to do a hard reset, as in puch/hold a button. After that, reconfigure everything and try all over again.
