Redhat Enterprise with cPanel and Tomcat.
Celeron server 2.0 with 1GB ram
95% of the time the cpu load is about 0-0.25
Then suddenly it goes up to 5-10 and some service including
TOP processes is always:
about 4-5 of them and if I kill them the server is back to normal again.
I have about 50 lowtrafic websites/clients here and will not
add more to this server but I need to get the server stable.
Only 4-5 use Tomcat and theres never any issues with that.
A few runs SSL using open SSL (I think)...
What is causing this high server load very irregular maybe
1-3 times per week ?
What is httpd-DSSL anyway ?
I've read a few posts about this here but never saw a good fix for it.
when the load goes up - what's your memory footprint? tomcat and it's javas can eat quite a lot of memory. httpd -DSSL is just apache. slowdown may be caused by swapping, or other disk I/O (log processing) if memory is ok.
