Because it is the most popular OS on the market. Easier to target because not everyone patches and since the code is so huge there is bound to be bugs.

Its not open source. If a bus is found, it cant be fixed in 10 minutes like in Linux.

Linux worrms are short lived, fixes are released too quickly for worm to get widespread. Writing viruses for MS can be more revording for the one who does it.

There is no Linux 7,8,9. You might be referrring to Red Hat 7, 8 ... Stable kernels are 2.0, 2.2 , 2.4, and 2.6 serries all of which are supported. Red Hat dropping support for their old distribution does not mean applications that are part of that distribution will not be developed any more. Red Hat wes not the one to develop them in the first place, they just packaged them togather. Now projects like Fedora will keep supporting even those old RH editions. Linux is not controlled by one one single entity and support for it cannot just be dropped.

No it is not possible. There is no one single person, company , entity who can "drop" support for linux. Linux belongs to you, and to me, and if you drop support for it I might not.
There were non-free distros for a while out there, and some people buy them some people use some other distros. Eather way it is all open source mostly licenced with GPL, Reading GPL might help you understand better.

Thanks for the clarification.
I don’t follow Linux never will…
But I remember reading that they will drop support in 2004 sometime, I thought May?? Also they were making a paid version of Red Hat Enterprise V3… I didn’t mean to shout out that Linux wasn’t supported now sorry
