    His father was / (is?) an extremely successful attorney, and provided him with *some* money to get started.

    Hmm...I don't think *all* they do is copy other people's ideas. You may be right in that we might be further along in software if it weren't for Microsoft but they have in fact made contributions that can't be ignored.

    holding everyone back? LOL. Please. You should be sending MS thank you cards.. w/o them. we probably wouldn't be so far inadvance with technology as we are today.

    Wasnt Microsoft the first to kick of the WIMP/Extremely user friendly O/S?

    Im not sure ... Windows 95 was the first Graphical User Interface i used, thats cause im quite young.

    I don't think so. I know Xerox invented the Mouse and Apply stole it from them lol.

    when mouse concept was first introduced to the public....some ppl actually simulate it as a "real" mouse to slide against the leg of the table when exploring its use....interesting

    I was under the impression Xerox started it all off. Can anyone remember a GUI called GEM? Used this years ago but can't remember if it came before Windows
