I've got a SkyStar2 in my PC here, I use it on Cband FTA and also listen to the unencrypted audio feeds on ExpressVu and Dish Network.

Yeah; i've been toying with it... using a SkyStar 2 card and also the new Hauppage card. It's pretty interesting stuff.

DVB stands for Digital Video Broadcast,

its a Satellite TV Standard just like cellphone standard GSM

if you have Satellite dish in your house, you can receive DVB Satellite tv channels if you have DVB receiver.

nope tradeviceroy, directv uses DBS standard
DVB is different standard than DBS, although they have thesame idea.

as what nwk said. in relation to cellphone standard
GSM = DVB while PCS = DBS
