STARTUP software company SpecOps Laboratories, which developed a software enabling Windows applications to run on Linux... David is a middleware that allows Windows applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, to be installed and run on a system operating on Linux

wine ran office for me just fine under linux SuSE9. (not that I need it since theres openoffice, but I just wanted to test it out and it works)

Windows programs are for Windows...I wouldnt think about running a windows app on Linux. Windows applications tend to CRASH more.

in addition to Wine and CrossOver Office there is also VMware (which can run windows inside of linux on a virtual machine) and maybe soon plex86 will be able to run windows as well.
