Two Months of Research.... What are your thoughts on these?

Okay, after two months of researching to find the best host in Service and Bandwidth for the money, after NetStartz went under, these are my Top Picks for my needs and wants.

    http://www.mesopia.com
    http://www.serverplace.net
    http://www.serverseed.com
    http://www.tomsyer.net
    http://www.thrillhost.com
    http://www.exovian.com

So, I want you thoughts on these companys. I know thrillhost will be good because I was with MidPhase, and other than their buggy email system, they give good support, but they don't offer the Bandwidth I would like, so I'm holding them out as a last resort.

I'm leaning ServerPlace at the moment, because they seem to have an active support, and they bend over backwords to satisfy their customers.

Mesopia seems the most "established" of them all, and their support seems alright, but it seems not as good as of late.
    All the others are "unknowns"......
Also, all of these hosts have good and bad said of them, but the good seems to outweigh the bad. However, some of them are pretty new, so I don't know if I can trust them.

Anyway, I would like to know peoples thoughts on them in whatever way they can offer.

I would say go ahead with Mesopia. But then again, just because a host is fairly new, does not mean they cannot provide as good or better service than any other.

    Just something to think about.

Yes, but I don't want a "repeat" of Netstartz, in which they were GREAT all possitive responces and then the moment I signed everything went down hill and then they soon died.

It's just that I'm ready now to start really developing all my web services and I want a host that I can trust, but have good bandwidth in case I need it with my 8 sites I'll be developing, before I have to go to more Professional Hosting, like a Dedicated server or something.

I agree that Mesopia is the most "estabilshed" they would be at the top of my list (if those were my only choices).

My next choice would thrillhost.com, just make sure to request NOT to be placed on their Burst.net server.

Here are two resellers you should also consider (after researching of course):
    dathorn.com (2GB/30GB for $13.50)
    UltraUnix.NET (3GB/25GB for $15.99)

Good luck in your search and kudo's to you for doing your research!

    Hi LeeUniverse,

Let us know what are the few most important requirements that you are looking for in choosing a host.

If you are looking for high bandwith host at low price, consider to research www.be-hosted.com or www.nemonics.net

    mesopia

Mesopia looks good, but I am pretty sure the others are fine. Let us know which one you picked and how it worked out.

Actually, I realized I mixed up my comments between two of them.
I am actually leaning towards "ServerSEED", as being the one that seems to bend over backwards in Customer Service.

Im having a bit of trouble on tomsyer and want to move. They arent horribly bad - I just want better service than what they have to offer (like more uptime and quicker support response times)

Yes, I think I agree..... I'm droping them off my list.

Well..... I just decided to take one more chance and go with Exovian.com
They seem to be really on the ball, know their stuff, and dedicated to their product and helping people.

I went with their Linux Reseller, and they have a Special this month of DOUBLE the Space and Bandwidth with all plans.

If I were someone looking for a new host I and I made up that list you have made I would have to rule out 'exovian' due to this reason:

As for the rest I would throw mesopia.com at the top and thrillhost next in line.

I don't understand why you did not consider Rochen?
9/11 Memorial, do you have a story to tell?
United Web Site Award Givers, do you believe your site is worthy of an award?

T C..... I'm well aware of that thread, and it is Clear to me that Evovian was no understood correctly.
They conducted themselves very professionally in that thread, and it was everyone else that was being "junk" and interpreted things falsely.

I'm quite familiar with being falsely interpreted in relation to some things in life, so I was able to see beyond all the junk and simply see the facts for what they were.
    Exovian was not represented correctly.

Welp if you look at the statements made against them from WebWize and globald, that would clearly make the average consumer skeptical but, since you've acknowledged it already and still find something good about them, so be it.

Here's a plug for Exovian, they're great. Godo service, really prompt support. Fast servers. Love 'em.

    Thumbs down Exovian

Exovian lost all my data when they decided to reload the server I was on and replace Plesk (my preferred control panel) with Cpanel. All of a sudden I logged into my site one day it was empty - all my data and clients data was gone! Upon e-mailing them, they said they sent out several e-mails notifying customers of the move (but apparently decided not to make backups of the data). I had received NONE of these e-mails, and the e-mail address they claimed they sent it to was the same e-mail address I was now using for correspondence about the issue - and I seemed to be receiving mail from them just fine.

Granted, it's probably in large part my fault for not having proper backups, but I thought they handled it poorly.

No notification, no instructions AT ALL on how to access the new server, no backups, and they couldn't pull my data off of the now unplugged drive. Basically "Surprise! Here's a new, empty partition. Good luck!" I had decent service with them before they pulled this crap, but this angered me so I switch to ddihosting.net. Same or better features, lower price, great network, and everything works.

Damn, why would someone want to switch from Plesk to Cpanel? Unless they had problems administrating it as Plesk does have a few quirks and is quite taxing on the admin. Anyhow, sorry to hear about your loss but it wasn't your fault. You pay a host to look after your data and the fact that they didn't have some kind of backup is pretty bad.

Your new host seems like a decent Plesk outfit so you should be in good hands there.
