    Unhappy Reseller Support that Sucks

I am on my second reseller host, considering a new host. The service I am currently using, hostegrity, poorly communicates server problems and the result is my 13 customers keep asking why they can't access their sites. I can't expand my reseller services with this sort of service.

I need a host provider who communicates well about service outages.

In the terms of service for Hostegrity they specifically outline the fact that there is no guarentee for up time. Hostegrity has provided a good service and I am glad I chose them over webhostingbuzz who couldn't handle a few of my non porno graphic intense clients.

Autica has a terms of service that prints up as a 12 page legal document. I have signed up for their promotion and it took 12 hours to process the new order, this despite their being swamped with the promotion.

One issue I wonder if anyone else has encountered is that when I chose the $2.00 a month 3 month promo they charged $2.01.

I called 866-643-7427 to ask about this and at 10:18 am PST Ben xt 111 told me he didn't know why it is charged, they knew it did this and that it was only a penny. While it may just be a penny I would like a better explination. It may just be a penny to me, but a thousand customers over charged a penny is $10 a month. $120 a year. Without some better explination it seems fraudulant.

Which, given the great looking reseller packages, would be a crying shame.

I need around 4 gig storage and paying $45 a month, like at Autica's 5 gig for $45, is about stretching the budget too far.

Anyone know of a reliable, responsive web hosting service in the united states that offers a reseller package with around 4 gig storage for under $45 a month?

It may be a fluke in our billing system. You know where to reach us, so give us a call and I'll give your penny back and look into the problem.

Yes, Ryan was a reseller of VSHosting (where I was too) and Mark was one of the owner of VSHosting.

Now they are together, running NPHosting

Zak If you needed the money that bad I would have loaned it to you. Give me a message and we'll work out some sort of an arrangement.

Egomzez It could be a result from the funds not settling yet. I once had a charge show up on on my debit card for dinner more then the meal / tip was. I instantly thought the waiter had changed his tip. I was really upset not to mention the food was horrible. A few days went buy and it ended up settling as the correct amount.

NPhosting has a great offer in Pounds not Dollars. Wouldn't having a foreign host pose a problem for things like credit cards and financial processing?

It is a penny and I wasn't posting here to get my penny back, I do know to go through support channels for refunds.

I posted to see if anyone else had the same issue and to see if Zak would respond. I wanted more then Den's response of "We know about it ... its just a penny".

I think that the promotional offer, whether $2.00 or $2.01, is a steal and I certainly don't mean to malign them.

I think it prudent to be critical of a service. If the first transaction I have with them is minutely flawed, then what will be in store for further transactions? And their response to a small flaw like that could give a indication what dealing with the company will be like on larger issues.

I have seen people posting about Autica and I wanted to post my experience.

One other note about Autica so far is that when the order processed I was sent a login and password, with directions to a location where I could order additional services and change password and contact info, but no explination about ip addresses and what should be done or if more info was coming soon. I went to the midPhaseTalk forum and found nothing to point me in the right direction. I called Autica customer service and Den quickly gave me the info I needed, which was"To email [email protected] with a request for IPs. There was no hold to get in contact with customer service on the phone and Den is polite and friendly.

Once I sent the email there was an immediate computer response and someone responded to that within 41 minutes and the ip and information I requested was emailed to me about ten minutes after that.

I'll cross my finger I don't screw things up to badly.

    Egomzez,

Name is Dan* I think that I spoke with you this morning, and I was
honest -- our system for some reason charges a few customers (not everyone
a $0.01 on trial orders, the developers have looked into it and it is just
    a fluke, nothing big.)

But, as you can see our support otherwise has been pretty high quality. We
manually activate accounts, so that is why your login information for WHM
and your IPs were not sent right away.

Any ways, I hope that you end up with us for a long time. We are doing our
    best to keep everyone happy.

    Best wishes,

    Dan

Sorry, just to emphasise that the majority of UK based hosts, will have absolutley no problems accepting or processing payments from american, or any other countries, customers. In fact, at least 30% of our customers are from the US.

Your bank will not make any additional charges for you purchasing from another country, any extra charges are paid by the hosting company in question. Sorry if this isnt completley relevant, just thought i'd better emphasise this point, to clear up any misunderstandings.

    Kind Regards,

    Lee

If you are interested in an American based hosting company, you should look into hostdime.com. their smallest reseller package is $19.99 - 5g space/50g bandwidth.

I find them to be very reliable and the customer service I have recieved thus far has been outstanding. If you were to tell them you were overcharged one pennie, you would get an appology and your pennie refunded.

hostegrity has an ethical problem that they need to come to terms with. If they know their payment system overcharges one pennie, they should advertise their price as one pennie more and submit the payment as one pennie less - that would take care of customers being upset at them for STEALING money.

Fanatical thanks for that information about UK hosting. Much appreciated.

Spencermjax it was not hostegrity that had the penny overcharge, it is Autica. I am sure they will resolve the issue. I have found other great offers for my needs, but Autica's promo offer is definitely worth the money to try.

    Glad you found a solution.

I will request to have that post removed so as not to upset hostegrity. My mistake!
