    Hi Alb15,

Send them an email to check their response time. A good hosting company will reply within a 2 to 3 hours. If they are online, they will reply quickly.

Yes, I have seen it - however it won't load. That's not a good sign.

It's for a 3 month introductory period. Take a look at the asterisk.

If John and I just signed up for something via that blank page, we aren't gonna be happy.

    I'm using IE...
I'm imagine whatever is causing the blank page, is just some kind of fluke.

or.. maybe someone turned that "no right click" script from that other thread into a "right click only" script accidentally ;-)

    So the catch is:
$1/mth for the first 3 months, then revert back to $34.95/mth

    ??

Yes, that is the "catch". This offer allows customers that want to create a hosting business try it out, and hopefully establish the revenue by the time the normal price kicks in.

    Hope this clears things up.

Oh, and to hostpulse- I recall Hostpulse owning ********, and micfo, or at least tied in to some degree, so I suggest not putting much weight into this guys "recommendations".

Its not meant as a catch -- its clearly explained on the page. The offer
is just a way to get resellers in the door, a way to compete. The offer
is a trial offer -- which is very common in most other industries. Direct
TV is always running a "half price for the first six months" offer and
most other companies in other industries do it too... How many times
do you hear "0.0% APR for the first nine months" from a credit card
company? This offer is no different.

The idea is get resellers in the door... Once they get a taste hope that
they decide to stay after the three months are over. No catch.

To midphase's credit, you are not locked-in to any long term agreement. They are not forcing you to sign a contract for a full year. So it's really a good chance to check them out. The only risk you are taking is $1. If you are unhappy you cancel, simple as that. However, if you are happy, then you are getting an incredibly cheap deal for a few months, and will be willing to pay the regular price after that.

No big bad surprises in the fine print that I can see.

Dan, that's some shrewd advertising you have there. Obviously working for you...But GEE, it must be costing you a pretty penny to monopolise WHT advertising like you are doing.

I have to say though, I followed the link and it states MULTIPLE TIMES that it is a introductory period. I guess it goes to show that people really do scan webpages, rather than read them.

Since you signed up on that special in March?

I may be wrong, but that's about the time the banners appeared.

Nice catch on the promo (the iNet 1million ad's) , we'd have taken one of the spots with them if I had seen that post.. unfortunately I didn't see it 'til someone emailed me to tell me, and the spots had been taken.

There arent any catches to it. I did read the fine print

    Currently Only
    31 of 500

It must be a huge investment to have a deal like that.

We didn't sign up under any special --though I wish I knew of an ad special
when there was one, would have saved a bit, we've been investing
thousands on a weekly basis into WHT ads and marketing... It added up
    to a pretty penny.

    The best,

Now that, I find surprising Dan.

Low genuine-use possibility, mild roi, even long term, and a 0.x low-market percentage reach. Those banners with promotions have been running for around 4 weeks (?).. so you've spent approximately $10000 on WHT (+/-) based on a guess made from the % of your ad's I see per page view.

I'm not going to tell you how to advertise, but if you did throw $10k+ at iNET in a month, I think they've seen you coming, and hidden in the bushes laughing.

    Just my opinion.

    Simon,

The campaign was started in the beginning of the month, it is a one month promotion
that will expire tomorrow. Before we laucnhed it we did a lot of number crunching and
it made a lot of sense to do it on paper... how it plays out is always another story,
but it should be well worth it even if the customer retention rates are not as high
as we would hope. I think it is obvious that this is not designed to generate a quick
buck today, it is designed for the long term... it should play out well.

As for how much we spent with iNet, well, that is between us and iNet... What ever
we spend, we'll make back. Just a matter of time.

I'm going to guess at retention of 100 (at point of full-payment)

That's just based on the market you're targeting, and the arena, so to speak. 100 is still a nice retention if you pull it though, and should give AuticaSB a bit of a leg up.

Good luck, the reseller arena (as you're probably now aware) is a different ball-game

    Simon

Please note that I have no affiliation with autica, nor have I used their services, but in truth this is simple, brilliant marketing.

Honestly, these sort of promotions in the shared hosting arena would most probably not cut it(we'll see how1and1 goes in about 2/ 1/2 years), but in the reseller arena it is a totally different scenario.

Why? Churn levels in the reseller hosting area are invariably lower that share hosting for the following reason....you are essentially tied down with your acquired customers. Its not like the shared hosting environment where you can simply up and change hosts, and all you have to worry about is yourself. As a lot of people would be aware, it is a hassle for a reseller to change hosts once they choose their host, and you really need a valid reason to change.

3mths is plenty of time for a small reseller provider with minimal outlay to be cash flow positive, and if the service is good, why would they have any need to change.

Dan, the only thing I would worry about is those clientexec licenses....Some shady people might be tempted to take on one of your plans with the freeby, and ultimately get a clientexec license for $6 after 3 mths....

    Professor,

Thanks for the kind words -- we own the licenses, they are in midPhase'
name (we buy them in bulk) and allow our customers to use them. If they
leave, they can't take them with them (it is part of our license agreement
    with ClientExec.)

    Thanks again,

    Dan

To those who thought there was a "catch" or that there was something "hidden" in the fine print, there have been a few threads about this special on this forum, and it has been explained very clearly that the special price is for 3 months and then you pay regular price. If you really thought you'd get a reseller account for a dollar a month, you better get another day job, or you'll end up penniless for chasing after pie in the sky specials.

I dont work with Autica or have an account with them, but I did check out their offer. There was nothing fishy about it. I didnt go with them because I couldnt pay monthly with paypal, but if they did, i'd try it out, sounds like a good offer. Nice jobs guys
