We run both versions and to be honest I don't think anyone could tell the difference from one to the other. There are so many other things that matter more such as the quality of the bandwidth and how heavy a load the server has to carry.
Regardless of the server you buy just try to get the best quality components or features such as raid drives or hot swaps.

Considering Xeons are 533mhz and 1mb cache w/ HT i doubt the HT makes much difference. Besides the fact that HT in Linux kernel 2.4 is CRAP. If the gameserver is going to be built right... Linux w/ 2.4 kernel the Cache will help more and in windows 2k3 will help more.
To the original poster: If you custom compile your OS - say gentoo then it really doesn't matter about your CPU differences since its not just another vanilla linux install, but one taylored to your hardware. Get premium Bandwidth and don't rent to 15 year olds that want a server asap. Best bet... sell to local or tri-state established gamers that know what a good service is.
