Need Advice on Free Helpdesk
Hi everyone, my partners and I were thinking about going with eSupport as a helpdesk solution, but have been informed by several people that you can receive comparable services for absolutely free!
So far, we've been directed to (and after our searches on these forums:-)
http://www.phpsupporttickets.com
http://www.perldesk.com/ (Not free, but damn near free.)
http://www.helpcenterlive.com
http://www.osticket.com
http://www.phpcoin.com
http://www.support-logic.com
http://helpdesk.oneorzero.com
http://php.exocrew.com
After reviewing those sites, I must admit I am confused, lol. There are so many different choices, and so many different options, so I was hoping that experienced WHT members that have used these services before could give me recommendations:
We're looking for a free helpdesk that can capture e-mails sent to our various support e-mail addresses, and then turn them into tickets. We also want an admin area, staff area, and user areas. We'd like for the ticket form to be easily customizable so we can modify it and integrate it into our site's layout. One of those live chat programs would be wonderful, but is NOT a necessity. We're really looking for the nicest looking, easiest to use, and most reliable free helpdesk.
What would be a HUGE bonus to the free helpdesk, would be a knowledgebase sort of like what eSupport uses. That's a cool feature.
Which of the above best meets this criteria? THANK YOU!

Hi,
We use eSupport and have had no problems with the software. I don't think any other helpdesk application is nearly as good as this one is. v3 is on the table currently and when released will be in a modular form to fit any business
However, I would recommened Perl Desk as your second choice

We use Exophpdesk. It is a great piece of software that allows to be customised into your website design.
It also has a knowledge base and even a troubleshooter. Also has a live chat feature, however i do not use this feature

Exo PHPDesk v1beta has all the features to fill your requirements. Easy to badge and easy to create your own style buttons etc. Highly recommended as one of the best of all on your list that I recently tested. If SupportLogic had an integrated KB and live chat I would have given it joint first place even though it was cumbersome to customize with having to triplicate everything you did.
Good luck with your search.Last edited by izzee; 04-27-2004 at 05:31 AM.

OSTicket is very simple, but it does a great job. If you plan on using anything like MB there are integration scripts out there also.

I currently use eSupport, and actually am looking to move away from it. Their support staff is so slow, and it's just really not necessary when there are *good* free solutions available.
I was looking into Exophpdesk as well, any more comments on this helpdesk?

We use OSTicket currently, and works wonders. Its not the most fully feature packed one. But it is easy to setup and maintain. It is also simple to integrate into an existing site design.

HelpCenterLive is pretty good. It doesn't pipe mail for un-registered users as yet, but I heard it will, soon.
That, as far as I can see, is the ONLY thing that lacks in this otherwise excellent software.
