We use HE.net, stability is awsome and has been for around 9 months now. No network outages during that time, just a few router problems on the resellers internal network, which have lasted at most 10 minutes

for shoutcast you cna get any server you want ... it can even be a 400 mhz with only 256 mb of ram

what you need is lots and lots of bw...

you can get a vps, just gotta find a company that has cheap bw or a cheap dedicated server with extra bw

yeah it shouldnt really make a big difference, as long as theres no network issues, you can use rackshack or servermatrix, as far as i know they are both great

so how much RAM do you need per listener for a shoutcast server? i understand the need for bandwidth but i'm not clear on how much RAM would be required.

    thanks

    0.5Mb per listener I think.

With regards to the bandwidth, dont forget that the buffer uses quite a considerable amount on top of the actual streaming bandwidth, one of the pitfalls of ShoutCast.

Unfortunately Shoutcast is a BANDWITH-hog like crazy... I hope maybe they'll think of a way to lessen the bandwith usage.
