This has happened now thrice. Just out of the blue the server hanged up. Earlier I thought it was JSP, but it hung up even when I stopped running it. I am recording the uptime every minute fron cron. Today morning it goes like this
I had this problem once, I solved it by updating to the 2.6.3 kernel, and after that there were no problems. Although this could also be something else. When I started getting those server hangs it was showing that PHP was using all the resources.

Wondering why there is a difference in the cron timings. Was it a direct spike to those levels ? I have seen apache limits being reached and Cpanel will tend to spike to that level, before increasing max concurrent connections. If so , you might have got a system email.
Else.. I've known and experienced the RHEL issue .. but you have a RH9 .. so not sure if it applies here.
