ROTFL -- If you accidentally have links for www.yourcompany.com

    Greetings:

Those dirty rats <sigh and smile>.

One of our board members pointed out that we had a page on our Web site selling hosting services which mentioned www.yourcompany.com in reference to having your own company domain name.

For better or worse, it was a hyperlink to www.yourcompany.com

I have to laugh and give NTT/Verio credit.

They own the domain name, and it points to their hosting page.

You may want to check your own site for such snafu's.

    Thank you.

Why not be RFC-2606 Section 3 compliant and link to www.example.com instead of yourcompany.com?

Yep, plenty of people do -- the page has a PageRank 8.

I wonder if the IANA would be interested in selling a link.

Yes; I must say - it was very clever of Verio to think of such a thing.

And the people who have yourdomain.com must also love people who use that as an example link as well. NEON Network is the name holder of that domain and it is registered through 2012. The page is mostly used for advertising different services from a host to a cell phone provider to a satellite dish provider.

Bet they make enough off that to pay for the hosting/domain. And then some.
