Dang they nailed a lot of people!

Of course I just find it so stupid that they can waste so much time on this issue when there are bigger fish to fry.

I mean sure it's important to crack down on illegal activities but is the effort they spend in doing an 11 country raid on piraters really worth it? Why the heck can't they manage to do 11 country raids to nail real terrorist networks?!?

I know I and everyone else in this world would breath a bigger sigh of relief to hear a report that they managed to bust hundreds of terrorist cells in 11 countries than to hear them report they caught some warez groups.

Shesh! I just get ticked off to see where the priorities of government agencies are.

Valid point but it is likely that the enforcement agencies involved in these busts would actually have nothing to do with anti-terror. So what do they do then?

I really see this as pointless. Seriously, they spend money, resources and countless other things on cracking down on warez, soft drugs, the downloading of MP3's (except in Canada), but still people continue to die on the streets by knives and guns.

The police force is acting cowardly in my opinion, they need to focus on the right things, such as cutting down murder crimes, harder drugs (murder first).

What's the point in arresting people for illegal software because some big company is losing money, when there's obviously gonna be no-one left to buy it?

“Intellectual property theft is a global problem that hurts economies around the world. To be effective, we must respond globally,” Attorney General Ashcroft said.

Who is going to take action on companies over pricing their products ? All is fair in war and love...and in business :-)

I'm very ashamed to admit this, but I was one of the people arrested several years ago for being heavily involved in the warez scene.

I was a member of some VERY high profile warez groups such as DEViANCE, MYTH PC, MANiFEST DESTiNY and RiSC. If you're familiar with the warez scene, you will know that those groups were the creme de la creme.

I was raided for being a software supplier, a cracker of commercial software, a courier, and I helped admin one of the top FTP servers in the USA.

It's no joke when the police kick down your door at 5 am and arrest you at gun point. It was very foolish to be involved in the warez scene, and it was costly for several close friends of mine.

I'm from Canada, and when I was arrested the piracy laws weren't really tested so I got off with basically a slap on the wrist, while my close friends in the states ended up doing many years.

These recent arrests will not hurt the warez scene, nor will it slow it down. There are always people waiting to fill the roles of those that were arrested.

The authorities believe that they are making an impact on the warez scene with all of these arrests, when in reality they are just adding more fuel to the fire.

The war on drugs has failed, the war on terrorism has failed, and the war on piracy will fail.
