I Need An Answer About The Backup

    Hi..

    I have two servers e.g. server1 AND server2

I want to add 2nd drive to server1 to be a backup drive , Can I in someway store the backup of server2 also to the same drive without any problems ??

If it is possible can someone give me a hint about how I can do it

    I'm waiting for an answer

    Thanks

Here's what I do on my two RH8 servers in my root crontab on the machine with the extra disk:

    10 5 * * 0 mv /backups/weekly.dump.gz /backups/lastweek.dump.gz
    20 5 * * 0 /sbin/dump -0u -f - / | gzip -c > /backups/weekly.dump.gz
    10 5 * * 1-6 mv /backups/nightly.dump.gz /backups/lastnight.dump.gz
    20 5 * * 1-6 /sbin/dump -9u -f - / | gzip -c > /backups/nightly.dump.gz
    10 7 * * 0 mv /backups/www.weekly.dump.gz /backups/lastweek.www.dump.gz
    20 7 * * 0 ssh www /sbin/dump -0u -f - / | gzip -c > /backups/www.weekly.dump.gz
    10 7 * * 1-6 mv /backups/www.nightly.dump.gz /backups/lastnight.www.dump.gz
    20 7 * * 1-6 ssh www /sbin/dump -9u -f - / | gzip -c > /backups/www.nightly.dump.gz

Ask if any of this is not clear, after reading the dump man page.

I don't know anything about cPanel.

The method I gave you runs automatically, once it's been set up.

If you can only manage your system through cPanel, then this is likely a stretch for you.

However, using cron, dump, ssh, gzip, mkdir, etc. is not that difficult. You should be able to find documentation on them on the web, as well as from the man pages on your systems.
