## Trouble understanding what to look for!

Sorry guys, try to do a good job with ye olde search button to no extent!
I just signed up with hostway... and was pretty satisfied until today. I had just installed phpBB2 and figured it was time to experiment a little more. I figured i'de open another database to keep phpBB2 in check. WRONG! My free sql costs $10 per month if I want another database, and I only get 10mb of MySQL? thats not alot of data! Hell my other forum only got like 10K uniques a month and 200,000 hits and I think alot of the times it was around 12mb for the dabase size!? Are there any established web hosts that kinder to people that want to host databases bigger than a dozen floppys!? I was hopping to host a couple seperate PHPBB accounts actually, not its seeming as if this is not possible? I have shell access, is it possible to do a little tweaking? Help a newb 0 2. $10 for an SQL database.. this is insane. There are plenty of hosts that can do it for$2-5 max per additional database.

This explains why it's insane.. I know we say it a hundred times a day but there are no such things as unlimited bandwidth and this is why you're looking for an other host now

im not concerned about the bandwidth that much, theyre all about the same... but I would like to be able to open multiple databases and have decently sized databases. What would you guys recommend? Or is my only solution for multible databases going to be a dedicated server?

Nickerz, most hosts actually offer multiple databases included with your package.

Just scan this forum - check out the offers section. I'm sure you'll find something interesting.

You can run multiple phpBB with one database. Just change the prefix ~

But I still recommend you to find a host that gives you more than 1 db ~ In case some scripts doesn't allow you to change the table names, there may be conflict with other tables.

Most of the cPanel hosts offer unlimited databases (not space or bandwidth). You can try Host Quote to get a good one.

This is where I have to ask...is it considered rude or against the rules to PM someone and give an offer for an alternative that you are hosting?

I dont want to get into trouble or come off as rude.

If all else fails...and you have a question, this link may contain the answer you are seeking http://www.webhostingtalk.com/misc.p...on=forum-rules

Personally I never PM anyone. I have had people PM me asking questions and in that case I will answer. You will occasionally see people post not to PM them so I am guessing there are some/many/alot who do PM people.

It's only against the rules if the reciever of the PM thinks that the PM is "spam." But if the reciever doesn't mind, or is interested in the option you present, then it is not a problem at all.

im open to it, I got 2 emails already... but they could be a little clearer... to me at least.. im not the best at this!

if you guys do want to email\pm me thats fine... what im looking for:

~300mb of space
-50+ gb of traffic
-unlimited (within reason) mysql databases
-if possible no limit on database sizes as long as its within space restrictions.

is this possible for $30 per month? 0 15. Good luck! 0 16. Autica has a special right now. You can try them for \$1-2 a month for the next 3 months. There's not a whole lot to lose (except possibly your time) on that deal. Give them a try. If it doesn't work out, you move on with wallet in tact.
