Like many of you all here, I am a web developer. I run several web sites, but they are all off different hosts. This is finally getting on my nerves a bit, and I would like to merge them all onto one host, and one account. Is this possible, for less than say, 20 dollars a month?
I'd need a lot of space, and the ability to host multiple domains from one account, as well as the standards of Perl, PHP, and MySQL.
Now, if that is NOT possible, where could I get a lot of smaller accounts (35-50 megs of space, with the same requirements as above) for about 3-5 bucks a month.
In fact, if anyone knows the answer to both questions so I could do a comparison, that'd be great.
You would need a reseller account with a host. I can't tell you how much it would cost without some sort of idea about the exact space and bandwith you would need.
I suggest posting some more requirements and doing a search for resellers on WHT.

The first scenario you mentioned -- that's what reseller or multiple-domain accounts do -- if you need to give your clients controlpanel access, then you definitely need a Reseller account since Cpanel-style Addon domains won't do that.
Second scenario is also pretty common -- if you have several accounts, you could choose a low cost cost host and host all of them separately. Check ionwebservices.com for $3-range hosting -- the cost is low and service is good.
Choose the Host that your most happy with (from the ones you already a customer at) and Email them your request. Probably they will give you a good offer that will allow you to combine all your accounts into one. No doubt, it will cost you less than it cost you now, when hosting on various places.
My advice is to spend some times to find the appropriate host for you, as now you`re putting all the eggs in one place, so when if something happens, all your sites crash :-(
I would advise to take the time and check out a decent "provider" for yourself. Definitely send some emails and check with current clients if possible. There are tons of options for resellers, some may charge one price and allow you to add domains, while others may sell additional plans at a discount. Not ALL webhosts offer cpanel as their control panel either.
I've looked into the reseller option, and for my purposes, it doesn't look like something I'd like to invest the time in.
However, budget hosting does look very promising. But, every one I've checked out has all these bells and whistles (added scripts, pre-installed scripts I don't want, a very strange control panel, mailing lists, anony ftp, etc etc). My question now is, is there a host that doesn't have these added features? Maybe just cPanel?
BTW, reseller account is not that time consuming... Infact it makes your purpose lot more easier. For example, you registered a new domain and you want to host it. Now with a reseller account, you just go and create an account in minutes against the normal process of signing up for new account, making payment and then waiting for it to get activated... Also reseller account turns out to be lot more cheaper...
Yes, a reseller account is very simple to use and will allow you to setup your different sites yourself under 1 "account" that you're being billed for, but on as many domains as you'd like and each domain can have its own control panel.
Also, mosts hosts must add all of those added features to attract a large group of potential hostees. Normally, the idea is that the host tries to provide as many benefits to the customer as possible, and at no significant extra cost.
