Is this traffic normal ?
Finally I installed MRTG to monitor my RedHat 9.0 server. It is using MRTG, rrdtool, and routers2.cgi to produce the graph.
My question is, why I see somekind of persistant "incoming traffic" (received). This server is still new, no local user, nothing. Only.
It's like 2 MB per 5 minutes ...
I run tcpdump and saw nothing ... just a small traffic ...
Is this normal ?
Or snmpd send wrong information ?
Here is my snmpd.conf :
syscontact "[email protected]"
# disk monitoring
And here is my mrtg.cfg for eth0 :
Target[127.0.0.1_18.104.22.168]: /22.214.171.124:[email protected]:
SetEnv[127.0.0.1_126.96.36.199]: MRTG_INT_IP="188.8.131.52" MRTG_INT_DESCR="eth0"
Title[127.0.0.1_184.108.40.206]: Traffic Analysis for 220.127.116.11 -- test.myhost.com
PageTop[127.0.0.1_18.104.22.168]:
Traffic Analysis for 22.214.171.124 -- test.myhost.com

is this because of I using [email protected] ?
Thanks for any help.
you're counting the localloop traffic?
Your snmp configuration is ok I believe. Using [email protected] is ok. Maybe someone else was using your IP before.
