We have had our layout stolen on multiple occassions, however the majority of the time they take it down. The best one we had was everything changed however the links at the bottom pointed to our homepage, the TOS still had our name in it and best of all our name was still in the header

If one is to rip a layout they should atleast posess the brains to figure out how to change plain text to reflect their company. I guess the majority of the time people:

    A) Dont want to get their own layout ($$)

    B) A webdesigner rips them off and gives them someone elses layout.

In our case we have had both

    Regards,

    Update:

No response from WebSynco.net and the deadline has passed. I have contacted their web host, 100megswebhosting.com and while in the process of trying to take the content down I was asked to provide them with documentation that the copy is indeed mine! Amazing, akin to proving that I am not an elephant.

Thanks to Archive.org and other info I have enough information to take the WebSynco.net clowns down. The only PITA is that I have to mail hard copies of it all to 100megswebhosting.com which is based in Canada.

100megswebhosting.com behavior is absurd. If they see documentation and proof you provided via the Internet (Archive.org), that should be well enough to ban the violator.

Amazing how some people can be a pain in one place and make you waste precios time.

At least its going the positive way, TC. Good luck.

Unless you can 'pay it off' to us like you can to your girlfriend, is there an apology coming up anytime soon?

TC, sorry to occupy your thread like that, but its a matter of what Canada is all aboot.

I don't think any male Canadians would like me to 'pay it off' how I would with my girlfriend, so YES an apology is coming

Ummm... what is that supposed to mean? Besides, the rippers are from the UK.

Everyone should contact websynco pretending to be interested in huge projects, get them all excited, and then back out at the last second and say:

"It's come to my attention that you don't have a creative bone in your body. I think I'll go elsewhere"

Geez, last night I felt a sharp pain in my gut. I thought I was getting appendicitis or something.

Now I finally realize what it was. It was the piercing comments made by 4 Degrees.

It's OK, though. Being a Canuck Wannabee is a disease, he can't help himself.

Let's stick to the topic, that is: the stinking ripping of web sites by WebSynco.net - They have ripped another site's content as they seem to love to rip web sites, If they did that for their own site I would shudder thinking what they'd do for their clients. WebSynco.net has failed to respond and I decided to see if they check their referrer logs.

Seems that rippers are constantly ripping sites. Vortech is currently experiencing one such unpleasant event; see thread at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=263743

In the meantime, I've resumed my daily linking to www.WebSynco.net that ripped my descriptive content.

TC, I have e-mailed 100megswebhosting with a complain and requested immediate action against a violator.

    Hope this helps you.

Thanks Artashes. Reuben of 100MBWH is adamant about me sending him proof via snail mail. I haven't gotten to it yet as I've been rather busy.

Moving to Canada doesn't make me a canuck wannabe

On topic; British laws would actually allow you to gain compensation for this too, sort of like American laws on these issues. Now that they're past their time frame to remove named content, I think you should have a written letter posted to them. I am British, if you want to type anything up I can easy print it and post it for you.

They replied and asked me to be patient.

I sent them a letter back explaining that electronic documentation is just as enforceable as anything else, so they should take their $hit together and do something as soon as possible and not bounce people for a week for no reason, while they harbor pirates.

    Best,

Message from timechange.com to Websynco received 22 April 2004 (via contact form):

    From: John Davis [mailto:[email protected]]
    Sent: 22 April 2004 17:46
    To: [email protected]
    Subject: Question

message: Why are you ripping off timechange.com ********? Take down the stolen copy you piece of ****.

You may also want to goto webhostingtalk.com and see what people are saying about your company.

    Piece of **** ********.

    submit: Send

    REMOTE_HOST: 68.223.0.22

IP Location: United States - Georgia - Fayetteville - Bellsouth.net Inc

The above message was sent to us by timechange.com, Mr John Davis and it has been brought to my attention, because of Mr timechange.com’s claims and its abusive content.

Of course, no-one likes to have their content copied but there’s no need to be so rude, Mr timechange.com, even if someone is obsessed with their work.

I will look into Mr timechange.com's claims and act accordingly.

Should the content not be removed immediately until you've done so?

This is very unprofessional on both parties, so it seems.

EDIT: He has every reason to be angry, and was this the first email / forum he submitted?

Alan, I'm sure you're well aware that he can actually press charges against your company now for copyright infringement, especially after you missed his removal deadline.

    http://www.websynco.com/web_design.html

And after this, you have still failed to remove the named content. I think you need to re - think your business ethics and lookup some new words or content templates
