    Question Hosting companies website designs???

    Hi all.

After visiting what must seems like over 1000's of webhosting sites in my searches over the last few years I have come across some bad designs and outright brilliant designs.

Most hosts have basic, bland, informative templates but then there are some nice colourful ones as well. So what is your favourite webhosting site as per viewing wise.

Here is my eye-candy top three webhosting sites:-

    1. www.vintagehost.net (groovy design is cool)
    2. www.sprintserve.net (I love those tomato characters)
    3. www.yupapa.com (nice cartoon design and nicely set out)

    Cheers - Dav
Gotta check out this superb site...

this has been done already, you should do a search before creating such a thread.

my top three webhosting sites are:

    1) yupapa.com - funny design, funny content, pretty graphics
    2) unitedhosting.co.uk - simple design, with a great flash header
    3) mediatemple.com - a good design, that's all there is to say

Cartoon theme is nice eye catching design but it gave me the feeling that it was either run by children or aimed at children/school kids. Not in anyway saying it is, but that is the impression that I got from the overly cartoon theme.

Yupapa knows his stuff, his service is aimed at everyone, ranging from teenagers looking to start a personal website, or a business looking to put their business online.

I've always liked hostrocket's design, and UH is also sharp (simple and professional at the same time).

mediatemple.com breaks badly in Mozilla, unfortunately. The design is pretty clever, though I find it a little frenetic. I tend towards very simple: give the information, give very simple sign-up links and info. WWW.*********** has that. I like P-nut's site as well, though finding the sign-up is a little daunting.

Yes, I'm sure thats right that Upappa is providing services to a range variety of persons, I just am expressing my own opinion that I would be put off due to the cartoon and child like interface. I actually thought that it was done by children/kids. That is only my personal opinion and I think some adulsts would take that view also. Again its just my personal opinion The site looks great though. I'm sure his service is excellent as well. That comment is not in any way meant to be derisive , just my humble opinion

    MN-Robert,
I'll presume that the "the same can be asked of you" was at me, and the answer to that would be "no".

I presume that, because it simply fits into how the thread looked before. Maybe i missed a few posts, so feel free to correct me, and I apolgize if it's a mere mix-up.

Not needed, thank you for the offer anyway.

A mere mix-up, I do not wish to bring Robert's integrity into question whatsoever.

I'll be honest, I think the mediatemple site is way over-rated, it's not a BAD site, but I wouldn't give it the great marks others do.

My personal favorites right now are your own site (the color blend is something I admire), UnitedHosting, and I am quite fond of Verio's design.

The simplicity of MT is truly great though. The home page has some great and fast loading effects, the inner pages have beautiful artwork and great icons. The table structure is also fantastic.

Thanks for the kind comments on our site. I'm a great admirer of DIY too.

Oh! I just had a look at "mediatemple" site for the first time! Yeah I have to agree that it is definitely an exceptional design and use of colours. Host nexus is nice as well.

What other sites are generally rated nicely? I think for me the temple media site has the following points.

Colour use exceptional and easy on the eye
Simplicity and ease of use/easy to find data and not overcrowded.
Mouseovers are nice and interesting .
    Overall feeling of sophistication.

Generally I would give it 8/9 out of ten in general terms.

I just saw the header graphics on this page, that is truly awesome and just one of the best I've ever seen.

Has anybody any suggestions on how much a site of this quality would cost to build?

What I love about MT is the credit they give to the artist in a rollover on the right of the piece. The quality of the whole sute is so crisp and streamined. I think you're looking at around $20,000-$30,000.

    Hi Nexdog,

I was totally impressed, its definitely in a league of its own. Do you websites really command such a price tag? That is an amazing price tag. I can't add anything on top of what you've said except I agree

I'm envious now!! tanuk is turning green wondering how to find 30K for a similar website for himself.

Start simple, then build your business around good solid providing.

At some point down the road (it may be 1, 2, even 3 or 4 years) you will have enough capitol to put 20/30k into your corporate store-front.

A website is the thing/tool that makes the first impression on a prospective customer, as I am sure Laurence will agree. A good strong website will pull your customers in, and keep them there long enough for you to present your product in the best way possible, and outline your companies qualities.

It's the proverbial 'hans and gretel' breadcrumb trail. It's all about leading the customer to the good-stuff. Grab their attention, then show them how good you are when they are engrossed.

    That's my take, anyway.

Simon, totally agree. But sometimes I wonder if a website is not just the pixelated ego of the owner.

Maybe not "just", but always a part of it. People take pride of what they accomplish, be it a business as a whole or just its website. It's just the way things go.

I wonder how websites (especially hosting related websites) will look like 10 years from now...
