Question

Changing Hosts - Where should i change to?

I am currently using EffectOnline. I started using UtopiaHosting, but then they went out of business, and EffectOnline was our official host. I just looked at the bill and its more then i want to be paying.

I am currently paying $7.95 a month (for a year), giving us something in the 90's, which is WAYYY TOOOO MUCH (IMO).

So, i was wondering what is the cheapest/best deal for, ~300 MB, (im currently using 250, but 300 wouuld be nice), and at least 10 email addresses.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys,
-Dan

you should use the Host Quote at the top of the page, I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

You also should mention how much bandwidth you need per month, as that can make a huge difference in price.

I think im getting 8 GB now. I have no clue how much i use/need. This is a family site, with the most amount of visits a day is 25. The biggest file is ~20 MB, and the rest are pictures... (i think). So, not THAT much bandwith, but, if it makes such a big price difference, then, yea...

TIA,
-Dan

Wow, there are SO many hosts out there that can fit what you are looking for. It is daunting to start down that road of finding a new host. Check out the host quote as the others have said. Also you could look in the offers section, but there are a lot of shady companies in there. I would sugest to search for any host on wht and see what comes up.

I had a good experience at oneworldhosting.com. Not the cheapest, but great performance.

I believe they use cpanel, so you should be able to see how much bandwidth and space you are using. Once you login to your account look on the right side of the page and read the info there.

To look for hosting you might find this helpful: http://findmyhosting.com/AdvancedSearch.asp

Good luck!

Take a look at hostmatters.com they are close to your range, all I can say from direct experience is that I got quick email supports, had them for 6 months with no big deal problems. Good Luck

I've used *********** for sometime with very good results. They give the space you're asking for with plenty of bandwidth for you mentioned needs. The thing I like about them is that they've been around a long time: very stable system and a good group of people there.

Of course the companies that can supply what you're looking for are legion.

I think you should use a resource such as www.findmyhosting.com
so that you can read comments from just clients of different hosting companies.
Seems to me if do you get a recommendation of a host here, someone will come along and say something bad about them a few hours later, and you'll just be confused again.

OK, months after telling them we're switching and we stopped paying, they shut us down. So now, what do you guys recommend about me switching. I'm doing these search thingies, but it's still kinda confusing. Here's what I'm looking for (again):

At Least 300 MB
At Least 10 GB/month bandwith
PHP Support
SQL support (mySQL)
FrontPage Extentions
Control Panel (preferably CPanel)
Located anywhere in USA
Under $8/month (dont ask about 8..., i just want it CHEAP
At least 10 Email Accounts
At least 20 FTP accounts
I dont care about OS on Server

And, what's the difference between dedicated, shared/virtual, semi-dedicated, etc...

TIA,
-Dan

Sorry about double-post, its not letting me edit...

For support..., i'd prefer being able to contact them 24/7, whatever, the more support the better

Like it's been said before, there are soo many places that could get what you want, for the price you want, and more. Just look around. Do the "Host Quote" on the top of this page. Do a search on one of the many web hosting directories.

Or even look at this site's showcase of shared hosting websites:

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showcases/0/0.html

I think there are at least two websites that would fit what you're looking for on that page.
