Hello,
I curently have a a dedicated server hosted
with rackspace. I'am very happy with their
services, the support and the reliability are
very great! But my site ask many bandwidth
(150 200 gig per month) and I need to upgrade
the hardware server each month. So I lost
many money in the setup fee and in the bandwidth.

I would like to order a new dedicated server
hosted by http://catalog.com Their prices
are very interesting and setup fee are free.

But I don't know if this compagny (catalog.com) have a good support and a good
reputation. (good reliability)

Have you some feedback about this compagny?
Where I can found some reviews about their
services?

Thanks for your help.

Do a search for catalog.com and you will find a lot of information on them. They have been all over this site of late.

yeah i am exactly in the same position, currently have a dedicated server at rackspace.com which has been upgraded 3 times in 5 months and need to get a 2nd server elsewhere for bandwidth usage between 65 - 150GB/month - i have eyed catalog.com but as a newbie 24x7 support is very helpful. I am also looking at hostpro.com unmanaged servers or dedicatedhosting.com both of which have 24x7 support

Like ironlung said, catalog.com has been discussed many times.

They seem to be an excellent company that listens to the needs of it's clients and potential clients. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you go with them.

Well christophe I recently got a redhat system from then and I've just been amazed at how great they are. I've probabbly been one of the worst clients in history but they still are friendly and helpful every time I contact them. I made them install redhat 7.0 instead of the standard 6.2, then it didn't work out(the c++ compiler turns out to be a beta version and doesn't work worth crap) so 2 days later I asked to switch back and on a sunday morning like a hour and a half after asking them they had it installed and running(all free of charge I might add!). Most of the time when I've contacted them asking questions or like yesterday when I requested additional IP addressed I got replies in under 10 minutes.

so that's 1 thumbs up from me

dedicatedhosting.com has been good to me so far. Lots of bandwidth and excellent support.

if you have any more questions about them I will be happy to answer them ... to the best of my ability. Your super best bet would be to visit the web site and call them.

later

David

Well I have just got a server from catalog and I must say they are trying hard to meet customer needs. After a lot of suggestions on this BBS they lowered there prices to meet what most posters wanted now they are working on getting a different control panel than plesk something automated for hosting companies.
There support is very nice and friendly and knows what they are doing unlike some places.

Like I said I am a new customer there and if things change I will be sure to keep People updated.

Its in the works right now they working on getting H-Sphere http://psoft.net/ and are in talks with Sphera http://www.sphera.com/ and they are looking for feedback on control panels from what I understand they want to have several options of control panels to offer there customers. Plesk is not bad but it dose lack some features that other control panels have. So anybody with good suggestions on control panels go to http://bulletin.catalog.com/showthread.php3?threadid=43 and give some feed back.

Unhappy

I have spoken to Chris at Catalog.com and he was very helpful and friendly. I do have a couple of qualms though.

1) He had mentioned that a Celeron based server would be no different from their PIII since the cache in the PIII doesn't even get utilized by Linux based system. I'm not sure if this is true or not. We build custom servers and PC's where this is not the case when it comes to desktop machines. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he is lying or anything. I don't know myself if that is true or not. I would however like to find out from someone who knows.

2) Yes, he did mention to me that they were looking at a few other control panels that may be more feature packed then Plesk and had also mentioned an upcoming Plesk upgrade. The downside to this, he said (and I tend to agree), that you may have to wipe out the server's control panel and configuration to be able to replace it with a new control panel solution. It only makes sense but sounds like a nightmare for those who have several virtual hosting accounts. In addition, when it comes to the upgrade, will you have to implement the upgrade yourself or will they charge you an arm and a leg for it?

They are going to offer it free and install it free there will be no extra charge for it. as far as having to have a clean server yes I think you will.

I dont know about the Celeron based server I have p3 with them but I have friend that has one and mine and his server run about the same as far as preformance.

This reply is not meant to be argumentative, but just wanted to comment. Even if they offer it free and even install it for free, who is going to setup all the accounts that were attached to the previous control panel if the server has to be wiped out? If I were in there position, I would charge an arm and a leg for the work...wouldn't you?
