    Thumbs down Enom spam or what?

    I create so called url frame page with enom for the domain:

    http://detfungerar.com/

    the site goes to http://www.toppform.no/?ak=kebe

    but for some reason enom creates this frame:

    <FRAME SRC="/?a8734haka8dr781346=true" NAME="a33" frameborder="no" framespacing="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"></FRAME>

    And that is some advertising.

    Tell me if I'm wrong! I can not believe it my self…

    Have already asked their support…and waiting…

    "where is the advertising?"
    Pop up window, but not every time, think I have to reboot the PC to se the pop up again...

    I've noticed the same thing on some of our domains. The additional frame contains some JavaScript code which pops up an advertisement from zedo.com. The popup also puts a cookie on the computer so that the ad won't be displayed again for a while - I don't know whether it's used for tracking which pages the user visits. At least some spyware cleaner programs have identified the cookie as potential privacy risk.

    "Well , I saw the popup , but how to know if it was from enom or from your site ??"

    Yes I was thinking that way to…
    http://www.detfungerar.com/
    is not my site (I am reseller).

    But I created the forward frame to the customer site

    http://www.toppform.no/?ak=kebe

    but I did for shore not create frame to this link:

    SRC="/?a8734haka8dr781346=true"

    You may se the source of the frame page
    (edit/source in internet explorer)

    When you go directly to

    http://www.toppform.no/?ak=kebe

    you will not get the popup.

    It must be the frame

    <FRAME SRC="/?a8734haka8dr781346=true" NAME="a33" frameborder="no" framespacing="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"></FRAME>

    Why this frame otherwise, I did not create it and I can not remove it…

    <html>

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

    document.write("<frame name=main src=http://www.nylivsstil.no/helse2/index.php"+document.location.search+">");
    document.write("</frameset>");
    document.write("<noframes>");

    document.write("</body></noframes>");

    hmm this is total popup/forced spam

    as http://www.enom.com/services.asp says
    No advertising is added to forwarded emails.

    but they didn't mention no advertising is added to url frame/forwarding

    so they might saved this for future forwarding, just like easyspace

    you don't really want something like this to be added on top of every domain you own! PLUS a popup

    i can show you an example if you want to see.

    Yes,

    Please observe the status bar in browser, you may see
    the browser is loading something from c5.zedo.com and
    c4.zedo.com.

    If you use Ad-aware 6.0 to scan your computer, you may
    find many tracking cookie on the machine.

    Some clients have been complaining two days ago. They asked me for money for placing ads in the frame redirection.

    I pay full price to enom directly but they still tacked it on mine. I'm currently shopping for a new registrar... Way too immoral in my book. No more enom for me.

    I ask them to disable and they did it...

  18. #18
    IMO, you shouldnt have to ask because it shouldnt be there in the first place. That's just wrong.

  19. #19
    You know the casualty in all this schtuff they're doing.... From Verisign's hijacking the 'error space' to all of the spyware that's being so casually used by so many 'legitimate companies' as just another marketing tool, to this latest rash of CODEJACKING (tm) by companies like Aplus.net and now Enom is going to be *regulation*(!)

    We're ALL going to pay for these companies greed one day through laws slapped on us prohibiting this crap. Which wouldn't be so bad except you know every time a law is passed it goes way to far and several more laws get passed on top of that and...

    It seems so easy for all of us to get together, stand up, and make these idiots QUIT IT. After all, they are selling stuff to us. ;^)

    Can they disable it for all domains or is it a domain by domain case?

    They will aparently disable it on a sub-account by sub-account basis. You need to tell them the account(s) you want it disabled on.

    Curious

    It's a mail offering a new deal to become ETP. They propose to have a $7.95 account if I open a PDQ...

    I've no other details about that, but it's a very good option I think : you open a PDQ for $99 and you have a $7.95 account...

    I don't think I'm the only one received this mail. I got this because I asked them to become ETP some times ago.

    Maybe, but again, they don't contact me because I have a subaccount. It's a totally different email they contact me.

    And I think eNom try to get back as ETP any sub-reseller from their ETP...
