    Bind 8 to Bind 9 Migration

    Is the syntax the same? Or is there any migration scrip for migration from Bind 8 to Bind 9? Ur advice please

    You will be able to use your named.conf file from bind 8, but you may have to make a couple modifications to suit your needs. Nothing too hard.

    The couple of modifications is what I afraid about , there are 10 000 records inside : (, roughly what are the modifications?

    You should be find, the format for the records is still the same.

    BIND 9 is more strict in regards to configuration errors than BIND 8. This page has a bit of info. If you have a spare server sitting around, I recommend that you install BIND 9 on it and try to load your existing zones there before doing the upgrade on the real server.

    No need to do what dan_erat suggests, just test with nslint.

    I've never tried that program, but I'd still feel more comfortable testing the zones by trying to load them into the same program that's going to be using them. :)
