I have a contact e-mail address at the bottom of each of my pages.
This is a simple "mailto:" line in the HTML.
Of course it is extremely easy for this address to be picked up by bots.
A quick search around Google showed me that I can replace the "mailto" command with a bit of Java:
var name = "username";
var domain = "domain.whatever";
document.write('<a href=\"mailto:' + name + '@' + domain + '\">');
document.write(name + '@' + domain + '</a>');
I did a copy & paste of this code and it works - excellent.
However, the mail link at the bottom of my page is displayed as my e-mail address and I want it to be displayed as a "Click Here".
This page is how my site currently looks.
Right at the bottom there is a "Click Here" text and when you click it your e-mail program is opened, all is well.
On the following page:
www.cifi.com/vendorreviews2.html I have replaced my "mailto:" link with the Java code.
Once again if you click on the e-mail address the e-mail program is launched etc.
Can anybody tell me what I need to add to the code to make my address appear as "Click Here" at the bottom of the second page I've listed - so it looks the same as the first page I've listed but should help int he prevention of email address harvesting?
Or alternatively a better way of hiding the address from the bots
Sorry, it's 1:45am, I'm tired, I hope this post makes sense!
