Srvermatrix will charge you for servers you don't have
OK here's what happened...
I ordered a server with a special...
Servermatrix charged my credit card and THEN after charging my card they told me I could not get that special (So at this point they charged me for something I don't get)
Thats fine I cancel the order... And a few days later they give me my money back on my card..
Thats fine I can dal with that, it's a little shady, they shouldn't charge me for something they are not willing to give me, in fact since they charged me, that should mean they should HAVE to give me what I ordered.. but hey.. I'm cool I'll just go elsewhere and get a server...
Ok so I do go elsewhere and get a server... I HAVE NO SERVER WITH SERVERMATRIX..
Guess what I get 1 month later...??
Your account with The Planet is delinquent at this time due to your credit card being declined. We must receive payment in full for your monthly recurring charge within 5 (Five) business days or services will be subject to disconnection. If the server(s) is disconnected, there is a $25.00 reconnect fee per server payable at the time of reconnection.
It is possible that your card is declining due to security measures by your credit card company. They may require us to have the CVV2 code from the back of your credit card in order to charge the card. According to Federal regulations, we are unable to store this information so you will need to call us to give it to us or enter the information in a ticket in our Orbit Customer Interface https://orbit.theplanet.com/.
For your own protection, please do not send credit card numbers through email.

It would be cheaper, faster, and nicer if you called/emailed SM instead of an attorney.0

First off, get a grip... they made a billing error. It's not credit card fraud and I assure you, SM/TP has better things to do than work over your credit card.
A simple e-mail to sales@servermatrix.com, or even better, a phone call, would probably have resolved this pretty quickly, rather than slamming them in a public forum.
Tell your attorney I said Hi.

Would it not be logical to simply drop sales@servermatrix.com and get a quick resolution? If you do not have a server with us, I do not want to charge you anything.
Being polite will always get a quick resolution. Give a try we are always willing to help.
Thank You0

It is a billing error...nothing else. Reply to them with the situation and they will take care of it....just as they did when they credited your card when you cancelled the order.0

Yeah I dropped you an email... it's easy for you to say for me to be polite, and if it was just a simple billing error I would have been but I've been charged (or tried to be charged) twice now for a server I never got, that is not a billing error it is incompetence
And of course I won't consult an attorney.. but I will post in here to warn other nebies like me of my experiences with your company.. they deserve to know..
As I wish I would have..0

Bill me twice for something I never receive and shame on me...
All you people must be rich.... For those that aren't rich... stay away from server matrix, all they care about is taking your money.. they aren't even nice, they don't even appologize when they make mistakes, they just make you to look like the fool..0

If I read right: they couldn't offer you the plan you wanted, refunded your money. Then had a billing error a month later. Instead of contacting them you come here and slam them. I don't think SM looks like a fool at all
disclaimer: I have no servers or any connection with SM, just feel that most providers get unduly slammed by newbies who don't understand how this industry works.0

Yes, but if they couldn't offer me the plan I wanted shouldn't they have not charged me in the first place??
Thats 1 billing error..
Then a month later they charge me for something I had to CALL THEM to get reversed the first time..
Thats 2 billing errors, and it is 2 billing errors for something I never even got.
I know that I look like a fool to all of you rich people who have been doing this for a long time, but I could care less, I have a server now I'm happy with it, and I feel no need to fit in with all of you WHT forum loungers...
What I do feel the need to do is to warn all the other new people like I was looking for thier first dedicated server, stay away from servermatrix.
Hey maybe when you have been around a lot longer then go to them, but they are not newbie friendly... neither is this forum...0

This is quite a natural complaint. I've seen only one guy complaining he was given a ServerMatrix server he didn't pay for. :-)

Web hosting isn't like a restaurant, more like fast food. You pay before you eat. (most cases)
if you have no interest in fitting in perhaps you could find another forum where your views are more welcomed. This forum is very newbie friendly to those with patience and acknowledge that they have lots to learn (as we all do, you can't be an expert in everything).0

You know obviously my statement about consulting an attorney and this being credit card fraud was written because Im P*SS*D off that I have to deal with this.
Now this is a company that has charged me a month later for something that they have already had to go in a reverse once. And obviously its not a big deal to them, and at this point it's not to me either cause the charge did not go through.
And an email to them would result in a response telling me it was an error... But then what if it happens next month? And it doesn charge my card? And then I go to try to buy somthing and I don't have the funds.. then I'm standing in line at a store looking like even more of an idiot in front of a bunch of people.
I would much rather look like an idiot here and accomplish 2 things.
1) Maybe save some other newbie from this careless company causing them this trouble
2) Guarantee that my card will not be charged by them next month. If I had just emailed them, then I could be here next month and all of you would be telling me how it is just 3 billing errors... but if they charge my card next month NOW after I have posted this, then you all look like fools and so do they. So I may look like a fool now, but I am ensuring that my card does not get charged next month... which is a fine payoof for looking like a fool to all of you.0

it wasn't an exact analogy.
if you are worried about having your card charged get a secured credit card for your hosting. It is a good idea to separate business and personal finances anyway.
out of curiosity who did you get your server through?0

My server is for personal use, Like I said I am not some rich business, webhosting, guru man.
And I'm not even about to say who I got my server through that would just open up a whole new can of flaming worms...
Why does it matter who I got my server through...
The said thing is Servermatrix offered the offer I thought I was getting in the first place a week later... pfft...
Lets just consider this matter closed.. I'm happy, I got what I wanted and I don't doubt I owe that to WHT forums...
Thank you for that.0
