Business plan for a managed hosting company

    Hello,

Before i start, let me explain i am 16, and currently have no plans on opening a hosting company untill i am at least 19 (reasons being im completely skint)

However, does this seem like a good business plan for a managed server hosting company:

Rent server space from redbus interhouse

Purchase all the equipment needed to setup a network for my infrastructure within my co-location space in the redbus dc

Purchase a few servers from dell, and setup a website with payment system to sell them.

Also, i would do what rackspace do and garuentee 100% avaliability of the network or %50 refund (or something)

Develop a plan for support, tickets, forum, telephone etc

Is there anything i have missed out??

    Thanks

Sounds expensive. It doesn't look as if you've mentioned how much IP transit you'll buy

Who knows what this market will be like in 3 years. How do you plan for that ?

That's what I was thinking. It's very difficult to predict this market from quarter to quarter, nevermind 3 years out. There are a lot of bigger players with big money in it (i.e. Rackspace). What will differentiate you from them?

Possibly working for a managed hosting company prior to opening your own may be helpful. Learning what not to do on your own money can be really expensive

    Lee,

Perhaps look into a business course at a local college?
    Just an idea.

Also, dont forget to sort out some local engineers available on callout just incase of emergency hardware failure.
