Hi, has anyone heard about web host's that use a mirrored server? i think it works that if server A goes down it the DNS after 30seconds updates itself and repoints itself at Server B. server A and B are in sync and info in A is copied to server B every few minutes.
is that right?
and does any know of any mirrored servers?
and how much they would cost?
Most of the time you set this up your self like pointed above (load balancing)or get s sysadmin to do this for you. If you have never done this before then you are in for a challenge. It can be like a hard puzzle. One of the best places I know to get good deals on servers and great support is www.evlservers.net. But again these servers are unmanaged so you will need to do it yourself or hire someone like www.cheetaweb.com to do it.

If you set your TTL values in your DNS very low, you can nearly remove the delay. Microsoft did such a thing prior to the the MyDOOM virus outbreak so they could switch to Akamai's caching network if needed.
